5 Ways to increase your income as a coach


Nowadays, virtually any knowledge we need is at our fingertips via the internet. But something else is becoming easier to obtain as well because of technology, and that’s coaching! 

It used to be a lot harder to find a coach to walk you through a new career or hobby; and alternatively, it was harder to become a coach and share your skill with others. However, now it’s a perfectly reasonable dream to become a coach if you feel like you have expertise to share. 

You can still coach in person of course, but there are online options now as well; this way you can expand your portfolio a bit in order to increase your income. The downside is that sometimes coaching isn’t exactly as lucrative as it is fulfilling.

So if you’re a coach that’s been struggling with your income, then these five tips to increase it are for you!

Create An Online Course

Possibly the most effective way to increase your income as a coach, no matter what your specialty is, is to create a course. One-on-one coaching is great; but although making your own course is a bit more hands off, it can create a fantastic source of passive income.

It will take quite a bit of time on the front end, you’ll have to come up with the course idea, create the content, release it, and market it. But you stand to make quite a bit of money if the course is good enough. And you can reach a lot more people this way as well.

Consider Consulting

This is an in-person strategy to make more money from coaching, and you’ll need to dedicate a set amount of time for it; but if you’re able to start consulting then it could be a major bonus for you.

The way this works is that a lot of companies, not all though, are open to hiring a coach to come in and train their employees for a set amount of time per week. So if you live in an area with plenty of businesses then you should ask around, there may be some consultation jobs available for you. 

And once you’ve got the jobs lined up, it’s a steady and predictable income stream!

Have an active social media presence

I put this tip right in the middle, because without an active social media presence… almost none of the other tips on this list will be as effective. Social media is the single best way to market yourself nowadays, and for the most part it’s free! Which makes it a win-win in my book.

So choose your social media platform, or platforms, of choice and get to work posting original content. Make sure it holds value though, or people won’t be drawn in by it.

Note that you definitely shouldn’t give away all your knowledge for free; but you need to show your expertise to people in order to display to them what they’d be getting if they hired you, bought your course, etc.

Know your audience

This is another tip that isn’t technically a source of money, but will lead to your income increasing by upping the effectiveness of your other income streams. Because unless you know your audience; you won’t be able to market effectively or know what they’re looking for in services or courses.

And when I say you should get to know your audience, I mean really do a deep dive on them! Think about everything from which age group they belong to, to what their goals are, to what kind of approach might appeal to them. The more you know, the better. So be sure to do your research.

Start Affiliate Marketing

In a way, the previous two tips have been leading up to this one. Because once you’ve established a good community on social media, and you know what that community wants; you’re ready for this kind of income stream, which is affiliate marketing.

Affiliate marketing, for those that don’t know, is when you promote a product and then get a small commission if someone checks it out or buys it. Over time, the money will start adding up from this; and it can become somewhat passive depending on how you promote it.

Just make sure to only promote products that will help your audience, and that you genuinely believe in.
