5 little things that can help you achieve your biggest goal

I realised the other day that it’s an accumulation of the little things that add up to make the big things. Though this may seem obvious, I spent years and years trying to move mountains only leading to burnout and disappointment. Since I have been taking it slower and just working on things that are aligned with who I am, things have been moving at a much quicker pace and I am finally seeing something for may efforts.

Just in case it’s not as obvious to you either, I thought I’d compile a list of the little things I wished someone shared with me when I was starting out on my journey.

Find your unfair advantages

Every single person – yes even you – has an unfair advantage. If you haven’t read the book an unfair advantage by Hassan I suggest you read it. He goes on for 100 something pages about privileges. Hone in on this. For example, I live at home, this allows me to spend more time and money on things I love doing like website design and business strategy. When you are more aware of your unfair advantages it allows you to then be grateful for these things and make sure they don’t go to waste.

Trust the universe

When I was younger, I would sit on the desk with my mum and I couldn’t focus, I couldn’t work and I didn’t know what I really wanted. We are expected to figure out what we want at such a young age but aren’t shown how to follow it through with emotional support. I knew I wanted a career in science and helping cure people, two very broad criteria. Though I am pursing a biomedical science career to this day, I couldn’t work on this without knowing the real reason why I wanted to pursue this.

Identify your biggest limiting belief

Being aware of your limiting belief alone won’t stop it from making an appearance but it sure as hell helps.  To identify it, more often than not you need to go looking for it. Sit down and ask yourself what’s the one action you need to create the dream lifestyle you want. Then ask yourself why am I not doing this. Then ask yourself again but go deeper this time because normally the first answer you give yourself is the fluffy answer you use to distract yourself from the real issue. When I say dig deep, I mean go right inside and have a look at what happened in your past, maybe even your childhood to make you have perhaps that fear of failure, that perfectionism or lack of confidence.

For example maybe you can’t find your sense of purpose, because at school we were always taught to find the next reward. You do your school exams to get into college,. If you do well in college you do well at university, if you do well there you get a good job. BUT THEN WHAT. Once you got into the work place you found that getting that next reward was harder and you lost confidence in yourself and started feeling lost. If they didn’t teach you how to find fulfilment it’s up to you to figure out who you are! Once you do that it will allow you to overcome that limiting belief and take that action you need to accomplish your biggest goal.

Heal your inner child

Trust me when I say your there is a huge link between your inner child and your high performance. This is is why, I want you to right here and now ask yourself what are your current coping mechanisms. The reason why this is important is because I put this off the longest period of time. I was unhealed and ungrateful, hence I was focusing on all the wrong energy and situations. I was telling myself I was a victim, life was unfair and I would never be able to do what other people were doing. This of course was just in my head. There is a little part of your brain called the reticular activating system and it likes to show you what you tell it. Think of it like a powerpoint presentation of all the things you focus your most energy on. It almost shines a spotlight on these things preventing you from seeing actually how possible it is to create that dream life for yourself. If you can exchange little limiting beliefs for a more positive then your reticular activating system will instead shine a spotlight on all the positives – which is crucial for a success mindset.

recuperate your energy properly

I’m here to bust the myth that you must move mountains daily to see success. This is not the case at all. Do you have high peaks of performance, then you ultimately come crashing down. If this is the case then it is likely you don’t recuperate properly causing you to crash and burn for longer periods of Time. You need to figure out what allows your brain to rest not just your body. Sitting with yourself, allowing your mind to be in silence can be the rest you need not just sleep like people think it is. It can be talking with a friend all night long having a belly laugh. It could be painting or doing a hobby you love like running. All these things give you mental rest because burnout is often caused by mental overwhelm rather than physical.  Find out which is most effective and allow you to continue with your work more consistently THEN DO THAT OFTEN!

All 5 of these little things are things I never used to believe in but by default I started to trust in the universe  and heal which allowed everything to fall into place and connect with you so just try them and see for yourself.  I hope you got a tonne of value from this one, if you did leave a comment and let me know what you need help with to convert the idea in your head into an accomplished goal.
